Hey there,
I’m Laura
Kansas City Illustrator & Designer
I’ve always been an all-around artist learning new crafts and styles.
Growing up I was ‘that artsy kid’. I would be happily lost in a box of crayons, imagining and drawing contently for hours.
I went “pro”, and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design and an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design from Johnson County Community College. I’ve been designing greeting cards at Hallmark Cards since 2018, using my illustration and design background while also flexing my hand lettering skills.
When I’m not getting artsy, I’m working on the latest home renovation, caring for my plants, and snuggling my pupper, Zoe, who has no concept of ‘personal space’.
I love curating personalized and unique pieces through cut paper and lettering.
Cut paper art is one technique that I love to use for portraits of people, pets, and houses. Each piece is painstakingly painted and hand-cut, then assembled like a puzzle to bring you a small-scale 3D portrait of the things and ones you love.
Lettering is another form that I love to utilize to capture memories and feelings. A favorite quote, song lyric, or collection of words to commemorate an important event, lettering is a beautiful and timeless art form.
